Did you know that Diwali/Deepavali is celebrated for 5 days long? Diwali is the Festival of Lights, symbolising the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. Day 1 of the celebration, Dhanteras, marks the beginning of celebrations. Then comes Choti Diwali, a day for preparing feasts and sweet treats. Diwali takes place on the third day. It is a time when feasts are shared, temples visited and friends and family greeted. Day 4 is Annakut, and the final day, Bhai Dooj.
.
Not only should other people learn about our culture and religion, but we too should educate ourselves about theirs so that we can understand and respect one another and that TOGETHER WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD!
